I'm not directly related to OSBORNE but Elizabeth's second marriage was to my gr. grandfather James Ellison SMITH. His first wife was Elizabeth's sister Mary Jane (Polly)Phillips, both daughters of Robert PHILLIPS. Polly is my gr.grandmother. I have been trying to find the parents and siblings of Robert PHILLIPS. So glad to have found your site and postings on Genforum. My 5th great grandparents were John Stancil and Edey (Edith) Stancil of Mecklenburg. I had read that you believe Jesse was his brother. I can tell you this; John Stancil and his wife had a daughter, also named Eda (Edith) who married Henry C. Burnett. Henry's son married Mary Stancil (b. 1809 Union Co.) and Mary's brother, Milas P. Stancil (b. 1809) had a son named Jesse Wilson Stancil (b. 1852) (I have his photo). John and Eda Stancil also had a daughter named Sarah who married George Freeman. I believe your Jesse and my John are brothers and that Mary Stancil (wife of John C. Burnett) (her father's first name is unknown) had a mother also named Mary who was born in 1780 and was still living and residing with her daughter in 1880 in Morning Star, NC.
