I have been training in the Vietnamese/American mixed martial art Cuong Nhu for about a year. Cuong Nhu expects its practitioners to branch out and study other styles, especially after they achieve black belt. I still have years of training before I can hope to achieve black belt in Cuong Nhu, but I have been looking at other martial and healing arts to see how I might advance my studies when it is time. I don't know if many Westerners train in kalarippayat, or if an older person like myself (I am 33) could gain any benefit from training. From what I have seen on your site and read elsewhere, though, I am very interested in this system and I hope to learn more. |
